A Small Press With A Big Impact

Caboche aims to empower neurodivergent and disabled folks through storytelling. We strongly believe in #BooksForAll and that #EveryoneCanWrite as long as they are met with support.

Through her work as a support worker, our founder, Meg, met adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and families who deserved a space to tell their stories with dignity.

While an author typically needs a manuscript to even entertain the idea of working with a publisher, we wanted Caboche to be different. We wanted to offer services supporting writers from conception to publication along with ghostwriting services and small batch printing for families who wanted to share their loved ones with IDD’s life story.

Noticing the gap in the book industry, our founder, Meg, wanted to start a small press and publish stories for adults with IDD. Through her work as a support worker, she had been limited to reading children’s books to individuals who were often twice her age – something that never felt right to her. Reflecting the unique realities of adults with IDD, our stories explore more mature content at an accessible reading level.

One day, we hope Caboche can rewrite some literature classics too, adapting them for our audience!

Caboche offers creative workshops for nonprofits working with adults with IDD. A space for creative exploration and self-expression, our workshops can be tailored to your needs. Most importantly, they are entirely free, excluding travel fees and material costs, which are always agreed upon beforehand.

While we are currently only offering workshops on Vancouver Island and on the Lower Mainland in British Columbia, please reach out to us if you would like to request our services in your region.

Our Team

Meg Sauvé
Founder and Editor in Chief

Meg is a passionate storyteller, with years of experience as a support worker. As a graduate in Creative Writing and Professional Copywriting, it has always been her dream to work in the book industry, but her time working with adults with IDD has changed her life trajectory.

A writer herself, she has been published multiple times. In 2023, her previous work was selected to be featured in an anthology by Caresses Magiques, a feminist collective.

In 2018, she founded Caboche, hoping to bring her two passions together. Amidst her return to school during a worldwide pandemic and an ADHD diagnosis in adulthood, the project has been growing slowly.

As Editor in Chief, she hopes to foster meaningful connections with all aspiring writers she works with.
